Having become operational in 2016, the Energy from Waste facility in Cornwall processes 240,000 tonnes of municipal waste per year in the region. The EfW plant recovers energy from the waste that it processes every year, and uses it to create enough electricity to power the equivalent of 21,000 homes in a sustainable manner that diverts waste away from landfill sites. The facility also has detailed air quality monitoring schemes and an educational visitor centre, engaging with the local community and promoting sustainability, energy and resource management.
Better Alignment, Better Value, Better Governance
PiP acquired a stake in the Cornwall Energy from Waste project in late 2017. The project provides wide ranging operation and maintenance of the County’s household waste recycling centres, legacy landfills sites, material recovery facilities and the construction and operation of a brand-new energy from waste facility.
