Background
Allerton Waste Recovery Park will reduce the amount of waste going to landfill in North Yorkshire by at least 90% and increase recycling in the county. Diverting this waste away from landfill means it can be used to generate enough energy to power the equivalent of 40,000 homes. The Waste Recovery Park includes an Energy from Waste facility, a Mechanical Biological Treatment facility and an Anaerobic Digestion facility.

Better Alignment, Better Value, Better Governance
PiP acquired a stake in the AWRP in late 2017 as part of a portfolio of PPP/PFI assets. PPP/PFI is a modern form of public sector procurement designed to achieve improved value for money through a focus on whole life costing and increased risk transfer to the private sector.

The state-of-the-art facility became fully operational in early 2018. Through proactive management and the maintenance of good stakeholder relationships PiP can ensure the park continues to provide a valuable service to North Yorkshire.
